International Society for Sanitation Studies
Annual Conference 2025
Information
- Annual Conference 2025 website is now open.
The International Society for Sanitation Studies (ISSS) recognizes the urgent need to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) – ensuring universal access to safe water and sanitation by 2030. Despite progress under the SDGs, sanitation challenges persist—especially for vulnerable groups. In the post-SDG era, there is a growing urgency to adopt inclusive, resilient, and community-led solutions that respond to climate, urbanization, and inequality—ensuring no one is left behind. Hence, this year’s conference theme, “Empowering Local Communities and Innovations: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for All in the Post-SDGs Era ” emphasizes the importance of both local communities and innovations in tackling SDGs challenges.
The ISSS Annual Conference 2025 brings together a diverse community of researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community members to address these critical issues. By exploring innovative, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches to Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH), and Menstrual Health, we aim to foster a more equitable and sustainable future for all. We invite all interested persons/organizations to share their expertise and contribute to this important conversation through oral and/or poster presentations.
We, therefore, welcome you to the ISSS Annual Conference 2025.
